I am not into goblins, says Mupfumi

BUSINESSMAN and Zanu PF central committee member, Isau Mupfumi, is under fire from some Mutare residents who are accusing him of using "goblins" to entice clients to buy products from his shops.

Goblins are said to be mysterious creatures that are used in witchcraft to perform certain tasks to generate wealth.

Mupfumi has denied the allegations saying the story of the goblins was a creation of his political enemies who are bent on tarnishing his image.

Social media platforms such as Facebook and Whatsapp have recently been awash with an image of a "goblin" which residents claimed belonged to the businessman.

There were claims that workers at Mupfumi's head office discovered the "goblin" which was in the form of a snake in a bottle full of human blood.

Mupfumi has however dismissed the report and the images saying "these are works of people harbouring a hidden political agenda".

He said he believed the reports were being created by people who are not happy with his recent acquisition of huge tracts of land in Mutare from the government.

Local Government Minister Ignatius Chombo awarded Mupfumi the Meikles Park in Mutare on a lease with an option of buying it through his company Stallvic Enterprises (Private) Limited.

He is paying an annual rental of $68,100 for the property.

Mupfumi last week hired a "computer expert", Cephas Mukaro, in an attempt to dispel the rumours.

"My investigation and scrutiny of the image has indicated that the source of the image was from photoshop. There is no originality on the image," Mukaro said.

Mupfumi told NewZimbabwe.com that as a Christian, he would never use juju to boost his business operations.

"I am a devoted Christian and I am not into goblins. It is sad that for every successful deed there are always people who are determined to bring you down," Mupfumi said.

"Facebook and WhatsApp are very modern ways of communicating and there is nothing wrong when people use such platforms to communicate. But it becomes sad when these platforms are used to tarnish the image of someone and spread falsehoods." Source
