Earlier news from the Pro-Independence Forces said 9 military men were neutralized, but the spokesman for the Cameroonian Army Colonel Didier Badjeck refuted the allegations in a press outing yesterday Sunday August 26, terming it "Fake News".
"Fake news is circulating on Social Media claiming 9 soldiers were killed and their ammunition seized by terrorist secessionists in Wum. Effectively, the Zhoa gendarmerie brigade was attacked and two gendarmes were killed during the attack. 21 secessionists were also neutralized and several others escaped with injuries. Several of their arms were also seized". Colonel Badjeck said, while assuring that security measures have been put in place to avoid any further attack.
However, fresh reports say Zhoa was in flames yesterday, and many houses consumed. No confirmation has been made as to whether the fire is in connection with the ongoing war.
