Mi casa su casa is Spanish for “whats mine is yours” or even “feel at home.”
Two blood brothers from Chiwundura in the Midlands did that with their wives. Leestone and Luckson Mtethwa swapped wives after noticing that they were attracted to each other’s wives. Leestone had initially married Nyasha Sibanda while Luckson married Fungai Nyoni. The wives supported their husbands’ decision. Completely unheard of in the community, elders summoned them to chief Gambiza’s traditional court.
Mirriam Dube, who is a neighbor of the two brothers, said the brothers boldly told Chief Gambiza they were okay with the agreement.
“They told the chief that they were attracted to each other’s wife and they thought exchanging wives was the best idea. Leestone also revealed that his brother’s wife, Nyasha was his high school sweetheart and that he still had feelings for her,” said Dube.
For their shenanigans, the Mtethwa brothers were ordered to pay a goat each by Chief Gambiza.
“I can confirm that I presided over a strange incident where two blood brothers decided to exchange wives. One of them was caught red handed with other brother’s wife. He confessed that they had exchanged wives after he was confronted,” said Chief Gambiza.
Because it was a strange case and the quartet were singing from the same hymn book, the chief only ordered them to pay a goat and nothing more. “However, there was nothing that I could have done given that all the parties involved were okay with the decision. I only ordered them to pay a goat since what they did is considered as taboo in our community,” he added.
Luckson and Fungai have two children a boy and a girl while Leestone and Nyasha have one, a boy.
