Manchester United took on Crystal Palace at Wembley in the FA Cup final on Saturday, May 21.
From a goal and and a man down, the EPL giants crushed the hapless Londoners by 2-1 and ended Allan Pardew’s dreams of winning the coveted trophy.
After a turbulent season that has seen Manchester United lose out on the UEFA Champions League qualification and more importantly failing to capitalize on the poor displays by their title rivals Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal in claiming the league.
Manchester United were lucky to end this season with a prized silverware.
How EPL will be impacted after Manchester United cup win |
With Manchester United’s win of the FA Cup comes one danger to their rivals, especially Arsenal and Chelsea.
The danger has nothing to do with signings of star players or the imminent arrival of Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford to replace the unwanted Louis Van Gaal.
The danger for the two clubs and the EPL in general will come from the mentality the Manchester United showed at the FA Cup final.
From being a goal down with just 12 minutes remaining, United with odds stack against them equalized and forced the game into extra time.
Even more impressive was that the red devils were playing with ten men after a red card to Chris Smalling early in extra time.
Manchester United have never played with such a focused mentality in the two years Van Gaal has been in charge and that performance was only common during the long and successful era of Sir Alex Ferguson.
Arsenal and Chelsea should now fear the changed attitude Manchester United now have, they are not weak mentally nor fear opponents this is a team aiming for success and at Wembley they proved that.
Instead of dropping their heads and give up after conceding the goal against Crystal Palace.
The red devils fought and delivered to Old Trafford the first FA Cup since 2004 and also the first trophy after Sir Alex Ferguson left the club.
That is the bad news for Arsenal and Chelsea, now they have a rival next season motivated to win and will be firing on all cylinders to achieve that goal.
For the two clubs they will now have to also deal with a new manager in Jose Mourinho at Manchester United who is ready to exact revenge in the Premier League and Europe.
