Brothers attack neighbour for eyeing ‘their’ girlfriend

Two brothers who attacked their neighbour and left him with serious injuries for allegedly trying to ‘snatch’ one of the siblings’ girlfriend have been arrested and charged in court. Jeremiah Kairo and Allan Kairo were accused of attacking James Macharia over rumours that he was eyeing a girl the two were also chasing.

The complainant told court the brothers further accused him of interfering with their lives and not wishing them well in their search for a wife. Police said Macharia got home on the material day at around 9pm when he met the brothers ‘tuning’ the girl in question at the entrance of their gate at Santon area on February 16.

The court was told Machirai asked the two why they were seducing the girl yet her father was not available to decide whom between him and the brothers deserved the girl. The brothers were allegedly irked by Macharia and asked him to mind his own business and try his luck next time.
The court was then told how the two attacked Macharia using blunt objects leaving him bleeding on the head as neighbours rushed to his rescue. Macharia was rushed to hospital bleeding on the head and treated before recording a statement leading to the arrest of the brothers. They denied the charge and were set free on a Sh20,000 cash bail each. Their trial begins on June 26th. - Pkemoi Ng’enoh
