One day after WWE announced the highly anticipated Shield Triple Threat match for Battleground between Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose, Reigns was suspended 30 days Tuesday for violating the company's wellness policy.
According to WWE.com, it is the three-time WWE World Heavyweight champion's first wellness violation since joining the company.
Reigns released the following tweet after WWE's announcement:
I apologize to my family, friends and fans for my mistake in violating WWE’s wellness policy. No excuses. I own it.— Roman Reigns (@WWERomanReigns) June 21, 2016
The 31-year-old native of Pensacola, Florida, lost the WWE world title to Rollins on Sunday night at Money in the Bank before Ambrose successfully cashed in his Money in the Bank contract.

Roman Reigns Suspended for Wellness Violation: Latest Comments and Reaction |
Although Battleground is more than 30 days away, the suspension would leave Reigns absent from nearly the entire build. Keeping the Triple Threat match intact is possible, but WWE could opt for a singles match between Ambrose and Rollins instead.
That would leave the Shield Triple Threat on the table for a bigger event, such as SummerSlam in August, should WWE still decide to pursue it.
