Gospel songstress Mercy Mutsvene could be on her way out of her third marriage following reports that her relationship with politician and businessman Tongai Nheta has hit its lowest ebb.
Investigations carried out by The Standard Style showed that Mutsvene was no longer romantically involved with Nheta, who is alleged to be customarily married to another woman. The revelation conflicts with the musician's sentiments last week where she claimed someone could have hacked her Facebook account and posted falsehoods on her wall, exposing a strained marriage.
The supposed faux pas has opened a Pandora's box after a source divulged the union was water under the bridge as Nheta paid a bride price for one Zandile Mhlanga.
"They are divorced but are still staying together. Nheta paid lobola for Zandile late last year," the source said.

When contacted for comment on Friday, Mhlanga could, however, neither confirm nor deny: "I have no comment. I cannot confirm," she said before hanging up.
Mutsvene, who did not answer her phone, has been accused of issuing conflicting statements. In response to a text message on Friday, the Handingabvumi singer insisted that she was still staying with Nheta, citing that certain enemies she did not name, were jealous of her.
"I am staying with my husband varikutaura izvozvo varikutorwadziwawo nemba yangu [those that are saying that are jealous of my marriage]," she said.
Last week Mutsvene said her husband, who is also her manager, would call The Standard Style reporter to confirm that all was well in their romantic life. However, the husband had not called by the time of going to print yesterday.
A daughter to Apostolic Faith Mission cleric, Mutsvene's past marital life is an uninspiring piece as she is apparently on her third marriage after divorcing twice under contentious circumstances.
The gospel singer was married in 2002 to Simbarashe Ngwenya and they divorced in 2007 before she got married to a Zambian bishop and relocated to Zambia. The marriage lasted for a few months and in 2009 she got married to Nheta.
